Brigitte Foster-Hylton calls it quits

BY Kayon Raynor

LONDON, ENGLAND –   Sprint hurdler, Brigitte Foster-Hylton, the 2009 world championships gold medallist on Tuesday told RJR Sports that she will end her career after a few more races on the Diamond League circuit this season.

This after the national record holder with 12.45 seconds, saw her dream for an elusive Olympic medal at her fourth Games end after falling in the preliminary round of the obstacle race on Monday, inside London’s 80,000 seater Olympic Stadium.

“At the start of the season I said this would be my last season (because) all I really wanted was an Olympic medal,” Foster-Hylton said.

She ended the race in 13.98 seconds yesterday, some way of her season best of 12.51 which ranks as the second best time this year, after Australian Sally Pearson’s 12.40secs.

“I think I’ve achieved quite a lot at the World Championship level, gold, silver, bronze so there’s really nothing else to look forward to. All I really wanted was an Olympic medal, it didn’t happen (so) I’m moving along,” added 37-year-old Foster-Hylton, who ruled out competing at a sixth World Championships in Moscow next summer.
