Richard Azan's duo of Peking Cruz and Honey Ryda are the ante-post favourites for the divided Overnight Allowance contest over the five straight course which takes centre stage in the absence of a cup or trophy race at Caymanas Park on Wednesday. In Division One, Peking Cruz will be looking for his first win in almost a year.
The four year old chestnut gelding who will be running for the third time after coming off a four month lay-up, gave a good account of himself on September 7. To be ridden by Robert Halledeen Peking Cruz has an ease in scales and should go down fighting as he is more effective over the straight.
The likes of KD Flyer who also prefers the straight and with his favourite rider Dane Dawkins back in the saddle, should provide competition for Peking Cruz despite carrying top weight of 126 pounds. They are among 9 horses set to face the starter at 1:10 pm.
Over in Division Two, the four year old chestnut filly Honey Ryda, also prefers the sprint. Honey Ryda, who has been fitted with the tongue-tie, has been sparingly raced this season. However, she did win on her return on May 18 from an eight month break and the task at hand is not beyond her.
Ras Emmanuel who will be going for two wins in his last three starts, is expected to provide a challenge. The 7 year old bay horse will once again have six time former champion jockey Omar Walker aboard. The race is set to run at 3:35 pm. First post for the 10 race card is noon.
