Former JC athlete wins 200m at British trials

Former Jamaica College ‘Champs’ athlete Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake won the 200 metres at the British trials in Birmingham on Sunday. Mitchell-Blake's time of 20.18 seconds broke the British Championship record.

It was the first time that 23-year-old Mitchell-Blake, London-born, Jamaica-raised and USA-based, had raced in Britain since he was 13.

Rio 2016 Olympic finalist Adam Jemili finished a distant sixth meaning he may also miss next month’s World Championships as only a top two finish guarantees automatic selection on the Great Britain team to the World Championships. Jamaican-based Zharnell Hughes also ended outside automatic qualification after placing 4th in 20.42.
