Francis and Mills deliver sound advice at Howard Aris Memorial Lecturer

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Jordan Forte

Legendary track and field coaches Glen Mills and Stephen Francis delivered some golden advice at Thursday's Howard Aris memorial lecture, the traditional pre-cursor to the Gibson McCook Relays put on by the Organizing Committee at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.

Francis, a founding member of the MVP Track and Field Club and Mills, who's the president and head coach at Racers Track Club, were joined by the president of MVP, Bruce James, in a riveting and informative panel discussion.

Francis is hoping that student athletes will use meets like the Gibson McCook Relays to make a successful transition from high school to the professional ranks.

Mills, who guided Usain Bolt to 8 Olympic and 11 World Championship gold medals, recommended that young athletes and their coaches draw on the experiences of their senior compatriots.
