A disagreement over who should run the programme while he’s on leave, was what prompted St Jago girls track and field coach Keilando Goburn to resign from the post.
Goburn who spent 19 years overall at the Monk Street-based institution told Radio Jamaica Sports on Monday that he decided to step down to take up the assistant coach post at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
However, the St Jago High alumnus says while it was a difficult decision to leave the programme he has been a part of for nearly two decades, his mind was made up by a decision made by the management team.
He explained that he made a recommendation regarding who should take over while he was away; however the management team opted for an individual in whom he has no confidence.
Goburn says he was not short of options after deciding to leave the team which he led to a third place finish at the most recent ISSA Girls Championships in March this year.
