Grace Jackson remains firm in race for JAAA presidency

Olympian Grace Jackson remains resolute against alleged attempts to have her withdraw from the race to lead the Jamaica athletics administrative association, two days before Thursday’s election.

Jackson, who is aiming to become the first ever female president of the JAAA, confirmed speculation at the official launch of her team at the Knutsford Court hotel Tuesday morning, that feverish efforts were being made to have her withdraw her candidacy.

Jackson said she was contacted by a journalist who said that they had been told that she had withdrawn.  Jackson said she does not know would be behind the effort to derail her.

The rest of Jackson’s team for Thursday’s elections will have Dr. Neil Gardner, vying for the position of 4th vice president; Dr. Jon Jones, general secretary; Cathy Rattay-Samuel, assistant general secretary; Joseph Taff as treasurer; and Maurice Wignall, director of records with David Riley and Dr. Paul Dawson as committee members.
