Jamaica's young female gymnasts had a successful first appearance at the Bahamas Star Gymnastics Invitational last weekend.
Fresh off the heels of a stellar performance at the 26th Gaspirilla Classic Invitational in Florida, the girls secured 14 medals in Bahamas.
Six-year-old Kimoya Banks claimed the top spot in the level one category with an impressive 9.6 on the beam. She also placed first and second on the floor and bars respectively.
12-year-old Camryn McDonald who returned to the sport last year, took top spot in level two with a 9.6 score on the bars.
Mekedya Thompson who was the top female gymnast at the Gaspirilla meet, was Jamaica's only level three gymnast and she won a gold and a bronze medal.
Brianna Ranglin, who ended 13th at the Florida meet, improved to a 5th place finish in the Bahamas.
Coach Nadeen Whyte is hoping the consistent success will encourage the Jamaica Gymnastic Association to be functional in due time.
