Jamaica lose Davis Cup tie 0-4 to Lebanon

Jamaica's tennis team went down 4-0 to hosts Lebanon in their World Group 2 tie in the Davis Cup after another winless outing on day two on Saturday.

Leading 2-0 from day 1, the pair of Hady Habib and Benjamin Hasan got the better of Blaise Bicknell and Rowland Phillips by two sets to one in the doubles match.

Lebonon took  the opening set 6-2 before the Jamaican pair fought back to take the second 6-3, the third set also ended 6-3 but in favor of the hosts.

In the third singles match of the tie, Mustapha el Natour had a 6-3, 6-1 win over Daniel Azar.

On Friday in the first match up, Phillips fell to Benjamin Hassan 7-5, 6-3. Blaise Bicknell was also on the losing end, going down 6/7, 1/6 to Hady Habib got by him 7-6, 6-1

It’s understood that the Jamaican camp has been hit by food poisoning which has affected a number of players including Phillips and Bicknell.
