Jamaica mined its first gold medal at the American Boxing Confederation Caribbean Championship on Wednesday night in Rousseau, Dominica.
Featherweight female boxer Sherikee Moore in the novice class garnered the medal by defeating Tiffany Delice from Barbados in one minute and ten seconds of the first round. Delice had three eight counts when the referee stopped the fight at that stage.
The other bout on the night saw Jerone Ennis beating the highly favoured Charles Cox from Barbados 5-0 in the male elite light heavyweight category. He progressed to Saturday's final.
Jamaica has two finalists on Thursday night, first in the novice women's heavyweight category with Jasmine Graham taking on Faith Fields from Barbados and then in the final of the elite male cruiserweight where Jayden Ecclestone opposes Kevin Demanyoh from Martinique.
Jamaica's Leroy Brown is the technical director for the tournament after the previously selected technical director withdrew at the last moment.
