Jamaica off to good start at PANAM Aquatics Championships

Jamaica is off to a good start at the Pan Am Aquatics Championships in Medellin, Columbia after securing two medals.

Collin McKenzie produced a national senior record of 1 minute, 02.23 seconds to take silver in the men's breaststroke in the 19-22 age group category. Xavier Flores of Puerto Rico won the gold in 1 minute, 01.18, with Columbia's Juan Montoya taking bronze.

McKenzie's time is also the "A" qualifying standard for the Junior Pan Am Championship set for Paraguay this summer. 

Meanwhile, Kia Alert secured the nation's other medal, taking bronze in the girls 13-15 100m breaststroke in 1 minute, 17.85 seconds.

Colombia's Isabella Garcia won the gold in 1 minute, 14.56 seconds ahead of Mexico's Elisa Acosta with 1:17.61
