Jamaican-born Japanese teenage sprinter contemplates representing Jamaica

Jamaican athletes continue to make a mark around the world, with teenage Jamaican-born Japanese sprinter  
Kyle Merritt the latest to join that impressive list. Although living in Japan, the 16 year old Merritt is undecided about which country will compete for internationally.

Merritt left Jamaica at age with his mother for Japan shortly after she took up a job opportunity in the Asian country.

Ten years later, Merritt is not only flourishing in the classroom in Japan but also on the track, where he has become a local sensation.

He recently sped to personal best 10.51 seconds a regional meet for his high school to qualify for the Japan national high schools championships. He recently started additional training with Jamaican coach Collingswood Coley in Japan.
