The Jamaica Association of Sports Medicine (JASM) has indicated that they will be boycotting this week's JAAA National Senior and Junior Championships over what it calls some concerning behaviour of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association.
Radio Jamaica Sports has seen a letter written by the JASM, in which they noted that the JAAA's did not facilitate their request for a meeting three weeks ago on May 30, 2024, to discuss their issues.
The JASM executive indicated that it was communicated that their participation in the Championships was contingent on this discussion.
It said, "Despite follow-up written requests and WhatsApp messages, there has been no response. Instead, JAAA has engaged another team who has requested our individual members to participate."
However, JAAA's President Garth Gayle told Radio Jamaica Sports on Tuesday that he was unaware of the problem the affiliate member, the JASM, was having, noting that his executive is prepared to meet with them.
The JASM Executive said it hoped their members will stand in solidarity with the Association, adding that "Unless the respect due to our professionals is granted and our concerns are addressed, we will suspend our participation in JAAA events."
