One record fell as Jamaica College and Hydel led the respective Boys and Girls sections at the ISSA Grace Kennedy Boys' and Girls' Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.
The lone record went to Edwin Allen in the class four girls' sprint relay. They clocked 46.90 seconds to dismiss the previous record of 47.28 set by St. Jago last year. But while Edwin Allen was in record breaking form, Hydel held the advantage after three finals.
They closed with 26 points, ahead of Edwin Allen 22, with Holmwood, Vere and Excelsior all on 10 points.
Hydel's Shadae Lawrence retained her discus class one title, winning with 48.66 meters ahead of Shanice Love of Excelsior 48.01 and Edwin Allen's Paulann Gayle 47.87.
Buff Bay's Fiona Richards delivered on her promise to capture the class two Shot Putt title with 15.21 metres.
She beat Hydel's Devia Brown 15.05 m, and Sahjay Stevens of STETHS with 1.95 meters.
Having placed third behind Brown and Stevens at the Carifta Trials Richards promised to deliver Buff Bay gold at champs as at the time she said she was just recovering from injury.
On the track, Holmwood Technical's Shanieke Watson defended the 2000m steeplechase open title, clocking 7:12.78, defeating, for the second successive year, Hydel's Monifa Green who recorded 7:21.84.
On the Boy's side three finals were contested with Holmwood's Daniel Glave winning the 2000m steeplechase in 6:04.90.
It is Jamaica College who lead after the three finals with 28 points, ahead of champions Calabar on 16, Cornwall 11, Holmwood 9, St. Jago 8 with Kingston College, Wolmer's and Edwin Allen all on seven.
JC's strong day was built around victories in classes one and two long jump.
The most special performance came in class one where Youth Olympic Games silver medallist Obrien Wasome leapt an amazing 7.71 meters to win gold.
Such was his dominance that any of his top four efforts, 7.69, 7.53 and 7.49 would have won him gold ahead of Calabar's Travis Riley who claimed silver at 7.40m. Alrick Ottey of Cornwall took bronze with 7.36.
Paketo Dudley was also a dominant winner in class two, leaping 7.21 meters for gold.
He was the only athlete over seven meters with Wolmer's Dameon Creary's last round effort of 6.7 5 landing him silver ahead of Daniel Bogle of Calabar whose first round effort of 6.71 got him bronze.
Five finals will be contested Thursday, three for Girls, and two for boys plus the conclusion of the Deacthlon.
