JDF dominate UWI in JCA Senior Cup

Former champions Jamaica Defence Force held the upper-hand over UWI FC in the 2-day JCA  Senior Cup competition at Up Park Camp. The army men were first dismissed for 159 with Jermaine Harrison scoring 35 and Sheldon Cottrell 34. Ackeem Fraser took 4-36 and Oshane Walters 3-36.

UWI FC in reply failed to cope with the spin of Dennis Bulli and were blown away for 127 as Bulli bagged 5-20 and Shamarie Brown 3-32. Batting a second time JDF closed on 10-1 a lead of 42 runs.

Meanwhile at Maxfield Park St Catherine CC were pushing for an outright win against host Kingston and St Andrew Cricket Association. Batting first, Kingston and St Andrew folded for 75 with Germaine Bennett bagging 5-14 and Mikhail Powell 2-34.

In response, the ‘Saints’ amassed 229-8 declared with 85 from Carlos Brown. Facing a deficit of 154 runs, Kingston and St Andrew were struggling at the close, reaching 121- 6. Lionel Spence with 60, has so far lead the scoring.

St Catherine's coach Milton Thomas was satisified despite some of his top players. And cup holders Melbourne crushed Boys’ Town by an innings and 39 runs.

Sent in to bat, Boys’ Town were skittled out for a paltry 90 against Christopher Lamont 6-42 and Damion Jacobs 3-15. Melbourne in reply declared on 195-6 with Bryan Brown 56 and Trevon Griffith 48 getting most runs.

Trailing by 105, Boys’ Town could only muster 66 all out as Lamont finished with 12 wickets for the match claiming 6-39 and Jacobs 4-21.
