Jerome Taylor reportedly recalled to West Indies test squad

Following a four year absence, RJR Sports has been reliably informed that Jamaican fast bowler Jerome Taylor has been recalled to the West Indies squad for the upcoming three test series against New Zealand starting on June 8 at Sabina Park.

Taylor who represented Jamaica in the recent WICB Regional four day competition, last represented the West Indies in an ODI Series against South Africa June 2010. His last test match was against Australia in December 2009.

The 29 year old Taylor had been sidelined from international cricket due to a spate of back related injuries. He represented Jamaica in the recent regional four day competition capturing 25 wickets at an average of 25.88 in 8 matches. He also took part in the preceding Nagico Super 50 tournament in January and February this year in which he took 6 wickets at an average of 11.83 in three matches. 

Taylor has captured 82 wickets in 29 test matches at an average of  35.64. 

It is understood, in the meantime, that only two other Jamaicans - Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels - have been included in the West Indies 16 man squad to face the Kiwis. The full West Indies squad is expected to be announced shortly.
