Former champion jockey Dane Dawkins stole the spotlight on Saturday's 10-race card at Caymanas Park with a three-timer including the winner of the feature event and also reaching a career milestone.
Dawkins guided the Richard Azan-trained 5 year old grey gelding Rainsville to a 7-1 mil upset victory in the Errol “Big Sub” Subratie Memorial Trophy event for Overnight Allowance runners over a mile.
Rainsville covered the distance in a minute, forty-and-two-fifths of a second to get the better of the 1-2 favourite and Jamaica Derby runner-up Run Julie Run. Rainsville closed out the three-timer for Dawkins and a double for Azan.
Dawkins had earlier recorded his 400th career victory at Caymanas Park after booting home Cookie Day N Night for trainer Gary Subratie in the 7th event over 6 furlongs.
Dawkins who won the jockeys' championship two years ago, began his career in 2015. Racing continues on Sunday with a 9-race card starting at noon.
