JUST IN: INSPORTS board suspends Admin Director Ian Andrews

Administrative Director of the Institute of Sports, INSPORTS, Ian Andrews has been suspended with immediate effect.

In a brief release on Monday afternoon, the Sports Ministry said it was advised by the INSPORTS board that Andrews had been suspended on allegations of misconduct. Andrews has been suspended with pay pending an investigation.

The ministry says Andrews is to hand over all property belonging to INSPORTS to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport.

The ministry says it will have oversight of INSPORTS until an acting Administrative Director is appointed. The ministry says it will make no further comment on the matter at this time.

Efforts to contact Andrews were unsuccessful as calls to his cell phone went to voicemail. RJR Sports was also unsuccessful in our efforts to contact head of the Jamaica Civil Service Association Oneil Grant.

Over the last two years Andrews has had several run-ins with the INSPORTS  board with his case going as far as the Solicitor General to settle the impasse.
