Principal of Excelsior High School Dean Roy Bromfield says the recent award received for being the top sporting school for girls gives credence to the work they have been doing in recent years. Excelsior's girls were awarded as the top girls school for sports on Monday and awarded $400,000 following a recent ranking system done by Sportsmax.
Bromfield says being awarded the top girls sports school is in keeping with the institution's core principle of moulding rounded students. Kingston College received the award for the top boys school and also pocketed $100,000 and Sports Master and track and field head coach Neil Harrison says it was expected.
Excelsior's girls were the winners of the urban area netball under-19 competition, the high school girls football competition and the top corporate area girls school at the ISSA Boys and Girls Championships.
Among the achievements for Kingston College were copping the runner-up spot at this year's ISSA Boys and Girls Championships, and winning the ISSA Flow Walker Cup compeition in 2016.
