King and Carty score centuries as Windies win ODI series against England

Centuries from Jamaican Brandon King and Keacey Cartey led West Indies to an 8 wicket win over England in the final One Day International (ODI) to take the three match series 2-1 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Wednesday night.

Chasing 264 runs for victory, the West Indies reached the target with 42 balls remaining, scoring 267-2. Carty hit the winning runs for the home team, top scoring with 128 from 114 balls including 15 fours and 2 sixes, while weighed in with 102 off 117 balls including 13 fours and a six. The pair added 209 for the second wicket.

Earlier, electing to field, the West Indies bowlers reaped early rewards, reducing the English to 24-4 in the 10th over.

Sam Curran and Phil Salt set about repairing the early damage, with a 70 run fifth wicket partnership. It was broken when Roston Chase had Sam Curran caught by substitute fielder Hayden Walsh for 40, to have the score at 94- 4.

Another 70 run partnership between Salt and Dan Mousley, added some respectability to the score, before Salt was dismissed for a top score of 74.

England were eventually restricted to for 263-8 from their allotted overs. Matthew Forde bagged 3-35, while there were two wickets each for Romario Shepherd and Alzarri Joseph.
