Leg of inaugural Grand Slam League set for Jamaica

Radio Jamaica Sports can report that a leg of the Grand Slam Track League, which is the being driven by American multiple Olympic and World Championship gold medallist Michael Johnson could be staged in Jamaica early next year.

That's the world from Steve Gera, the president and Chief Operating Officer of Grand Slam Track. He said the likely date could be in April or May.


This news comes a day after national 100m meter hurdles record holder Ackera Nugent and world Under-20 400 metre hurdles record holder Roshawn Clarke were confirmed as two of the Jamaican athletes signed for the 2025 season of the Grand Slam Track League.

Grand Slam Track competitors will receive annual contracts and are compensated under contract to race and promote the league and receive additional marketing and branding support.

prize money will range from $100,000 for each winner to $10,000 for 8th position.

Grand Slam Track will have a total of $12.6 million of prize money that will be awarded across the slams each year in addition to the base compensation and appearance fees paid to competitors.
