Nineteen year old fast bowler Marquino Mindley heads a list of seven Jamaicans named in a WICB Provisional 30-man squad for the 11th ICC Cricket World Cup scheduled to begin February 15 in Australia and New Zealand.
The Jamaicans joining Mindley in the provisional squad are "The Big Hurt" Christopher Gayle, Sheldon Cottrell, Nikita Miller, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels and Jerome Taylor.
Mindley is among a group of six players who have never played an ODI for the West Indies. The others are left arm seamer Kenroy Peters, leg spinner Imran Khan, off spinner Ashley Nurse, 22-year-old opening batsman Evin Lewis and the left hander Jonathan Carter.
The rest of the squad is: Sulieman Benn, Carlos Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Miguel Cummins, Narsingh Deonarine, Andre Fletcher, Jason Holder, Leon Johnson, Sunil Narine, Versammy Permaul, Kieron Pollard, Test captain Denesh Ramdin, Kemar Roach, Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith, Darren Sammy and Devon Smith.
The West Indies will play in Pool B alongside defending champions India, Ireland, Pakistan, South Africa, United Arab Emirates and Zimbabwe.
They play warm up matches against England on February 9 and Scotland on February 12, followed by their opening World Cup match against Ireland at Saxton Oval in Nelson on February 16.
