Montego Bay United has officially been relegated from the Red Stripe Premier League after a 2-1 loss to Waterhouse at Drewsland on Wednesday. The St James-based team took the lead in the 26th minute through Nevan Turner but Kevon Howell equalized in the 31st. Waterhouse got their winner in the 67th minute through former national representative Tremaine Stewart.
The result ends Montego Bay United's eight year spell in the Premier League, while Waterhouse's win cements second place in the table and an automatic spot to the semi-finals. Mount Pleasant Academy's 1-0 win over UWI keeps them in third and they will oppose the same opponent in the first leg quarter-final on Sunday.
Arnett Gardens defeated Harbour View 2-1 to move to fifth in the table and set up a clash against Cavalier in the quarter-finals. In the other games on the day, league champions Portmore United got by fellow St Catherine side Dunbeholden 2-0 while a hattrick from former national Under-17 player Nicholas Nelson guided Cavalier to a 3-0 win over Tivoli Gardens.
The Reno versus Humble Lion encounter was called off because there was no ambulance at the venue in case an emergency arose.
