Michael O'Hara completes sprint double at JAAA's National Junior Trials

World Youth Champion Michael O'Hara was among the outstanding performers as the two-day National Junior Athletics Championships ended Sunday at the National Stadium.

O'Hara completed the Under-20 Boys' sprint double when he clocked 20.96 seconds to win the 200 meters, again defeating Bog Walk High's Jevaughan Minzie, 21.57.

Seventeen year old Natalliah Whyte of St. Jago upset her older rivals to win the Under-20 Girls' equivalent in 23.77 secs. Kedisha Dallas was 2nd in 23.91.

In the 400 meters, World Youth Champion Martin Manley with 46.24  prevailed over his St. Jago teammate Nathan Allen 46.39, to win the Under-20 Boys' event.

There was an upset in the Under-20 Girls' equivalent, where World Youth Bronze medallist  Tiffany James of Papine High clocked 53.69 to win the event. James, who competed in class-2 this season at Boys' & Girls' Championships, defeated class-1 rivals.

Yanique McNeil of Vere Technical was 2nd in 53.83 and Balaclava High's Dawnalee Loney 3rd in 53.84.

As he did at Boys' and Girls' Champs,  Rajay Hamilton of Calabar High  with a time of 1min 51.16secs  defeated the Spalding pair of Kevon Robinson 1.51.29 and Chadoye Dawson 1.53.42.

And in the field events, World Youth bronze medallist Christoffe Bryan announced his good form clearing 2.20 meters to win the Under-20 Boys' High Jump.

The athletes are seeking to make Jamaica's team to the World Junior Athletics Championships to held July 22-27 in Eugene, Oregon, in the USA.
