Nelson wins Century Casino Oaks

4-time Jamaican champion jockey Dane Nelson captured the 15th running of the Century Casino Oaks among his triple on Saturday's 12-race card at the Century Mile Race Track in Edmonton, Canada.

Nelson brought the 4-5 favourite Playful from well off the pace to win the mile and one-eighth stakes event which had a purse of CAD $100,000.

The 3 year bay filly covered the trip in 1:53.3 minutes to win by 4-and-a-half lengths. Playful was winning her 4th consecutive race of the year, with Nelson astride on all occasions.

All three of Nelson's winners on Saturday's programme were saddled by leading trainer Gonzalo Anderson.
Nelson has ridden 24 winners from 111 mounts so far to sit 5th in the jockeys' championship for this season at Century Mile which ends on September 12.
