Diamond League organizers have revealed a new provisional calendar for 2020 because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The announcement came on Tuesday, the same day the cancellation of the London Diamond League meet was made public.
British Athletics confirmed the cancellation of the Müller Anniversary Games on Tuesday, noting the UK Athletics' premier annual event would not go ahead as the spread of Covid-19 continues in the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, the Diamond League organizers say due to the continued Covid crisis, the new opening date for the 2020 calendar is August 14 when Monaco is scheduled to host its event.
Stockholm is due to round off Diamond League action in August, a week after Gateshead on August 23. Lausanne, Brussels, Rome and Shanghai meets will be held in September, while the final proposed meetings in Eugene, Oregon, Doha and a second meeting in China, will take place in October.
