Paltry medal haul for Jamaica at World Indoors

Jamaica will return from the IAAF World Indoor Athletics Championships in Birmingham, England with its worst medal haul since the 2008 edition in Valencia, Spain. The country's athletes were unable to add to their two silver medals on Sunday's final day of competition. 

The women's 4x400m team was disqualified for a changeover violation after crossing the finish line in 2nd place behind the USA initally. At the first hand-over, 2nd leg runner Janieve Russell stepped into the lane of the Ukrainian athlete before while receiving the baton from first leg runner Tovea Jenkins. 

The Jamaicans were disqualified and Poland who finished 3rd, took silver while Great Britain took the bronze. Ronald Levy also failed to make progress to the men's 60m metres hurdles after finishing 2nd in his semi-final in 3rd in 7.62 seconds.

With the silver medals from shot putter Daniel Thomas-Dodd and triple jumper Kimberly Williams, Jamaica finished 14th on the medal table. The United States topped the the medal table with 18 medals including six gold ahead of Ethiopia with 5 medals including 4 gold and Poland 5 medals including 2 gold.
