Samuel Ricketts won the Under-19 final at the Suriname easter Badminton Tournament, defeating top seed Soren Opti in two sets 21-15, 21-10.
This is a confidence boosting victory for Ricketts who is preparing to play in the Pan American Junior Badminton Championship in Guatamala in July.
Ricketts who was unseeded for the Suriname event, defeated three seeded players enroute to the Under-19 title.
In the men's Open division, Ricketts lost in the final to Suriname's #1 senior player Virgil Soeroredjo 9-21 15-21.
