Roman lights up Caymanas Park with 5-timer

Inform champion jockey Raddesh "Sneaky Fox" Roman stole the show at Caymanas Park on Saturday by winning half the number of races on the programme, including the feature event.

Roman's 5-timer was topped off by a gate to wire performance by the 3-2 favourite Desert of Malibu in the feature Clovis Metcalfe Trophy race for Open Allowabce runners over 7 and a half furlongs.

The 6 year old American-bred mare won by 8 and a quarter lengths in a time of 1 minute, thirty-two-and-three-fifths of a second.

Roman had earlier won the first 4 races on the card astride Sir John at 3-5, Supernatural Power at 1-9, Nuclear Jet at 2-1 and the 6-5 favourite Strike Smart. Trainer Gary Subratie saddled two winners. 

Racing continues on Sunday with a 9 race card starting at 12:15 and highlighted by the 99^th running of the $4.5 million Jamaica St Leger over 10 furlongs, the season’s second classic at 5:45 pm.
