Russell in punishing form as Tallawahs make winning start to CPL campaign

The Jamaica Tallawahs opened their 2021 Caribbean Premier League campaign with a comprehensive 120 run victory over the St Lucia Kings at Warner Park Sports Complex in St Kitts on Friday. Batting first, the Tallawahs posted 255-5, their highest score in CPL history.

Andre Russell top scored with 50 not out off 14 balls. His knock was also the fastest half century in the history of the CPL. Kennar Lewis added 48, while Chadwick Walton made 47. Obed McCoy took 3-52 for the Kings.

In reply, the Kings were bowled out for 135 inside 18 overs. Tim David top scored for the Kings with 56.

Migael Pretorius was the pick of the Tallawahs bowlers with 4-32. Imran Khan also chipped in with 3-7.

The Tallawahs will be searching for back to back wins against the Barbados Royals on Saturday. That match bowls off at 1:30 Jamaica time.
