Sparkling century by Hodge enables strong Windies reply against England

A sparkling maiden test century from Kavem Hodge highlighted the West Indies strong first innings reply against hosts England on Friday’s second day of the second test as the visitors reached 351-5 at stumps at Trent Bridge.

They trail by 65 runs. Joshua da Silva was unbeaten on 32, while Jason Holder was 23 not out  at the close.

Earlier, Hodge scored  an exciting 120, his maiden test century which included 19 fours. He also shared in a 175 run 4th wicket partnership with Alick Athanaze who made 88.  

Captain Kraigg Brathwaite also made 48, while Jamaica's Kirk McKenzie could only muster 11.

Shaoib Bashir has taken 2-100 for the English so far. England had scored 416 in their first innings on Thursday's opening day.

The West Indies trail 1-0 in the three match series after a crushing innings 114 run defeat in the opener at Lord's last week.
