Stakeholders welcomed the much anticipated return of horse racing to Caymanas Park on Saturday, with stringent COVID-19 measures in place including a limited number of spectators, social distancing and the wearing of masks.
As per Ministry of Health protocols, punters as well as stakeholders comprising jockeys, grooms and trainers had to wear masks across the racing plant to include the stable area, saddling area and the starting gate.
In the meantime, chairman of the Jamaica Racing Commission, Clovis Metcalfe says the number of spectators at the track will be increased on a fortnightly basis going forward.
The next race day is scheduled for Saturday, June 27.
