Thompson clocks PB over 60m

Despite running a personal best time over 60 metres on Saturday at the Central Hurdles and Relay track and field meet, Jamaica's Olympic 100 metre silver medallist Kishane Thompson, said he was not satisfied with his performance.

With his first run for the season, Thompson stopped the clock at 6.48 seconds,  into a notable negative 2.1 metre per second headwind, ahead of his teammates Nishion Ebanks 6.54 and Rohan Watson 6.61, who both set new personal records.

Thompson's winning time makes him joint number four on the all-time Jamaica list indoors along with Michael Green and Nesta Carter from 1997 and 2012 respectively both done indoors.

Only Asafa Powell with 6.44, Ackeem Blake 6.45 and Lerone Clarke 6.47 have gone faster.

Meanwhile in the women’s equivalent, Olympic 100 metre finalist Tia Clayton took the top spot, running a personal best time of 7.14 seconds.

Natasha Morrison took second with a personal best of 7.18 seconds and Jonielle Smith third also a personal best of 7.23 seconds.

Both Thompson and Clayton will be in action over 60 metres  next weekend at the Astana Indoor meet at the Kazakstan Indoor Track and Field Arena.
