Following the logistical debacle involving Jamaica at the NACAC Under- 18 and Under-23 Championships in Costa Rica last week, manager of the team Keith Wellington says lack of US visas for student athletes are putting a strain on the pockets of parents and schools.
Jamaica's NACAC team had to travel without 26 of its members to the recent championships in Costa Rica as they did not have the requisite clearance to land in the country.
Costa Rica requires either a US visa, a Costa Rican visa, or a waiver for anyone wishing to enter the country.
However, the Inter Secondary Schools Sports Association president says several of the student athletes still got visas which expired in June.
He says it's difficult for many of the parents to continue funding the children's US visa application process.
