West Indian batters show good form ahead of first test against England

The West Indians batting a second time in their 3-day warm- up match against a County Select X1, were 57-2 at stumps on day two, leading by 23 runs at the Kent County Ground.

Kittician Mikyle Louis was 28 not out and Alick Athanaze who is yet to score, were the batsmen at the crease at the close. Zachary McCaskie failed for a second time in the encounter after departing for 2.

The County X1 resumed their first innings at 15-0 before declaring at 373-4 in response to 339 made by the visitors.

William Luxton hit an unbeaten, 112, while Hamza Shaikh chipped in with 84 and Tom Prest 53. Four of the Caribbean bowlers picked up a wicket.

The West Indies are using the match as a preparation for a 3-test series against England which bowls off next Wednesday at Lord’s.
 
Shamar Joseph and Gudakesh Motie will join the squad later this week after the passage of Hurricane Beryl saw their flights being cancelled.
