The West Indies will be hunting early wickets on day two of the first test against Australia on Wednesday night local time in Perth as the Aussies are set to resume on 293-2.
Marnus Labuschange is 154 not out along with former captain Steve Smith on 59.
Jayden Seales and Kyle Mayers have taken the wickets to fall so far with David Warner going for 5 and Usman Khawaja 65.
West Indies head coach Phil Simmons says despite the strong start for the hosts, the visitors are still in the game.
Meanwhile, Simmons hailed the initial phase of play from the bowlers but says one bad session has put them on the back foot. Play continues Wednesday night at 9:20 Jamaica time.
Both teams wore black armbands to pay respect to former West Indies wicketkeeper batsman David Murray who died on Friday in Barbados.
