The West Indies are still winless against India in the white ball home series after they were humbled by 68 runs in the opening T20 encounter at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad & Tobago on Friday.
Some late order hitting from Dinesh Karthik took the Indians to 190-6 after they were sent to bat by the Caribbean men.
Karthik hammered 41 from 19 balls, that included four fours and two sixes to help the visitors score 42 in the last three overs.
Captain Rohit Sharma topscored with 64.
Debutant Alzarri Joseph finished with 2-46 from his quota of overs, while there was a wicket each for four other bowlers.
In their chase, the Windies limped to 122-8 after struggling from start to finish in the innings.
Shamarh Brooks 20 was the top scorer while captain Nicholas Pooran made 18.
Ravi Ashwin and Ravi Bishnoi picked up two wickets each for the visitors who were winning a 12th T20 in 13 against the West Indies.
Pooran felt the team had too much to make up.
But the middle order batsman said the team will not be phased despite the margin of defeat.
The series continues on Monday with the first of two matches at Warner Park in St. Kitts.
