With a brilliant performance from captain and spinner Samara Ramnath, the West Indies U19 women have secured a spot in the next round after defeating host nation Malaysia by 52 runs at the ICC U19 T20 World Cup in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
The Windies finished third in Group A after winning the contest. Opener Asabi Callender led the way with 30 off 42, as the West Indies were restricted to 112-7 in their 20 overs.
The hosts were then bowled out for 59 off 18 overs. Ramnath 4-6 from her four overs. The West Indies move forward and play Australia this Saturday in their first Super Sixes encounter.
