Veteran dancehall artiste and producer Demarco has taken a bold step by announcing he will no longer record gun-touting music.
His decision stems from his support of the Broadcasting Commission's ban on music that promotes scamming, drugs, guns, and other illegal activities on local airwaves.
The artiste, born Collin Edwards, said given the upsurge in violence in Jamaica, the time has come for those in authority and public figures to be more proactive in stemming the bloodshed.
Demarco also shares the view that the violent content in certain songs has significantly contributed to the decay in society.
His social media post calling for the change has received the support of peers including I-Octane, Sean Paul, and Gramps Morgan.
Demarco burst onto the music scene in 2003, and has since scored hits like Fallen Soldier, True Friends and Love My Life.
