Opposition Leader Mark Golding
Opposition Leader Mark Golding is warning that politicians and other people under investigation for alleged illicit enrichment could face prosecution if his party forms the next government.
Speaking at a People's National Party meeting in East Central St. Catherine on Sunday night, Mr. Golding accused the Andrew Holness administration of failing to fulfill its promise to implement measures to tackle corruption.
"We also believe in the unexplained wealth orders that this government had committed to in the agreement which set up CMOC, the Crime Monitoring and Oversight Committee, and which they have reneged on. And it is an important tool in the anti-corruption arsenal, and we will introduce it when we form government so that those who engage in hankie-pankie can be held accountable for their wrongdoing," he advised.
As he sang along to the reggae hit Right Time by Mighty Diamonds, Mr. Golding warned, "some aguh charge fi corruption...when the right time come".
The Integrity Commission had reported that eight politicians are under investigation by the agency for alleged illicit enrichment.
