Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is reminding taxpayers that the Special Arrears Settlement Programme has been extended until May 31.
This means individuals and businesses still have more time to reduce the outstanding amount owed to TAJ as well as to benefit from a similar reduction in the penalties and surcharge is applied to their arrears.
For example, businesses and individuals who pay off 50% of their outstanding arrears will benefit from a 50% waiver on the interest and the surcharge is applied to the outstanding amount.
The government has already collected some $13.2 billion from the programme which started on January 28 and was initially set to end March 31.
Some $16 billion in penalties and interest have also been waived during the period.
