The government is providing 1 billion dollars over two years to establish the Jamaica Screen Fund.
The fund aims to support production of films locally by providing access to financing for projects primarily at development and production stage.
JAMPRO, which will manage the fund, says the support may include a combination of defined percentages of the production costs up to a maximum contribution for local productions, with varied structures for international films being shot in Jamaica once certain eligibility criteria are met.
The resources for the Fund will remain with the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service to be drawn down in tranches once the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce approves eligible projects that have completed and fulfilled the application requirements.
