Montego Bay declared 'Sum City' ahead of 2023 staging of Reggae Sumfest

Montego Bay has been declared Sum City.

The declaration was made by Montego Bay Mayor Leroy Williams last night at the official launch of Sumfest 2023, held at the Iberostar in the second city.

This year is significant for Sumfest as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Speaking with TVJ's Eprime, Chairman of Sumfest's Board Joe Bogdanovich said he had a unique vision for the brand when he took over some 7 years ago.

Founding Member Robert Russell added his delight at the contribution of Sumfest to Montego Bay's economy for the past 30 years.

Alecia Cabera, Executive Manager of Presenting Partners Caribbean Airlines - whose airplanes will carry the Sumfest logo, said it was an instant synergy for the brand.

And Head of Commercial for Red Stripe Sean Wallace celebrated the fact that the beer giant has been a part of Sumfest from the beginning.

The launch event also saw the official reveal of the poster for Sumfest 2023, which featured the weeklong events and a full list of artistes that includes Grammy winner Kabaka Pyramid, Morgan Heritage, and Marion Hall on night 2.

Night 1 will feature dancehall heavyweights Valiant, Masicka, and the recently freed Tommy Lee.

Reggae Sumfest, Jamaica's biggest music festival, is scheduled for July 16 - 22 in Montego Bay.
