CARICOM denounces economic "attack" by European Commission on member states

CARICOM has deplored what it says is the latest attack by the European Commission on the economic well-being of some of its member states.
The member states, including Jamaica, were earlier this month named on the latest EU list of third world countries with strategic Anti-Money Laundering/ Combating the Financing of Terrorism deficiencies.
CARICOM said the list, which also includes Guyana, Barbados and The Bahamas was published despite the European Council concluding that the Commission's submission was not established in a transparent and resilient process.
The Secretariat has called upon European Union member states to once again reject the Commission's proposals as callous and premature.
