Germany gives €2.85m to support safe agriculture trade in developing countries

Germany is giving €2.85 million to support safe agriculture trade in developing countries.

The World Trade Organisation says Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development is making the contribution to the Standards and Trade Development Facility.

This will be done over a four year period, running from 2022 to 2025.

The WTO says the funds are to facilitate safe and inclusive agricultural trade in developing and least-developed countries and to help them meet international food safety, animal and plant health standards.

Developing countries and Least Developed Countries are encouraged to apply to the Facility for project and project preparation grants.

The next deadline for submission is on February 24.

The Standards and Trade Development Facility is a global multi-stakeholder partnership to facilitate safe and inclusive trade, established by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, World Organization for Animal Health, the World Bank Group, World Health Organization and the WTO, which houses and manages the partnership.
