Jamaica Railway Corporation has entered into an agreement to use its railway infrastructure for the commercial movement of industrial minerals and aggregates with Mineral Agency for Retail and logistics (M.A.R.L).
The agreement was signed at the Ministry of Transport and Mining today. It allows for the transportation of minerals throughout the country, while also offering a reliable and efficient transportation solution for businesses.
The duration of the contract will be for fifteen years with an estimated value of 33 million dollars for the first year.
The ministry says the railway line will help alleviate congestion on the roads and reduce transportation costs, benefiting both the industry and the environment to facilitate the movement of heavy cargo.
