Petrojam eyes re-entry into marine fuel market

The state owned oil refinery Petrojam recently announced plans to compete with West Indies Petroleum for control of the local marine fuel market, which it exited 10 years ago.

Petrojam has been selling marine fuel from its tanker wagons in Montego Bay, St. Ann and Portland in recent times.

It also says it is seeing opportunities to re-enter the market to sell marine fuel to vessels on the high seas in Jamaica's outer port limits, that is, mainly ships traversing the Panama Canal, without scheduled stops.
