The JSE Index declined by 306 points on Friday, while the Junior Market Index declined by four points.
Declining shares outnumbered advancing shares by almost two to one.
The 31 shares which gained included Supreme Ventures, Medical Disposables and Supplies, IronRock Insurance, Express Catering and QWI Investments.
The 54 declining shares included A.S. Bryden and Sons Holdings, Paramount Trading, 138 Student Living Variable Preference shares, K.L.E Group and Jetcon Corporation.
Twenty-eight stocks traded firm.
