American who failed to reboard cruise ship after landing in Jamaica wanted for crimes back home

The police say the American tourist who disappeared after disembarking the Carnival Sunrise cruise ship in Ocho Rio, St. Ann two weeks ago, is wanted for various crimes in the US.

The tourist, who has been identified as Eric Lott, was held in Brown's Town on Saturday.

Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell, head of the St. Ann Police, said Mr. Lott has been charged under the Aliens Act.

He is to face the St. Ann Parish Court on Tuesday.

SSP Powell says Mr. Lott is wanted for crimes in the US, including grand theft auto.

The police had been searching for the American since he failed to return to the cruise ship on September 13.

They had informed the media that contact had been made with Mr. Lott's family members who confirmed they were in touch with him.
