CARICOM is to send a delegation to Haiti, which is still grappling with socio-economic and political issues following last year's assassination of President Jovenel Moïse.
The Bahamas Foreign Affairs Minister, Fred Mitchell, last night told a news conference marking the end of the 43rd CARICOM summit in Suriname that the regional leaders had agreed on the initiative and reaffirmed their support for Haiti.
CARICOM chairman, Chandrikapersad Santokhi, told reporters that the regional leaders received an update on the situation in Haiti.
He disclosed that CARICOM officials took the opportunity to express grave concern at the deteriorating security situation in Haiti, and Prime Minister Ariel Henry told the meeting that his country is looking for more support regarding the country's future.
