The Government of Guyana recently nominated Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim as the country's candidate for the position of Director General of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture (IICA), a key agricultural policy making institute in Latin America and the Caribbean.
This nomination was endorsed by CARICOM heads of state.
The election for the Director General of the Institute, which has 34 members, will take place at the next meeting of its board of directors in November, in Brazil.
